The Bible is filled with many references to music. Music is an avenue and an expression of worship that helps us to tune our hearts, minds and even will to God. Throughout God's Word, we find that the praise of God was most often expressed with music.
Colossians 3:16 says:
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach...and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts toward God."
Consider these three examples:
Psalms - actual scripture set to music;
Hymns - time-tested songs of faith;
Spiritual Songs - new songs of personal praise and worship.
At First Baptist, we have opportunities for both the traditional (worship through Hymns) and the contemporary (psalms and spiritual songs) worshipper. Our 8:15 am contemporary service is designed to give worshippers an opportunity to encounter God using praise and worship assisted by our praise team and praise band. Our 11:00 am traditional service is designed to allow believers to express their faith and trust in God supported by organ, piano and the Sanctuary Choir. It is our desire to never substitute a musical experience for a personal encounter with our Lord, Jesus Christ. You are invited to worship with us each Sunday at 8:15 am or 11:00 am.
